Anxiety, fear, stress, phobia all interchangeable words, having literally similar features at least bio-chemically involving cortisol and adrenaline secretion.
Amygdala, a small almond shaped structure in the temporal lobe of brain, part of limbic system. It is the major processing center for all these emotions.
It’s fear when a 5 year old kid mistakenly swallow a lemon seed and then warned by his elders that a lemon tree will grow inside his tummy with branches protruding from his mouth. He will have sleepless nights watching his mouth in mirror. Feeling some colic movements in tummy, thinking that the tree must have started growing.
When elders all funnily told about his fellow mates absence from school for last 5 days, siting he/she is also growing tree in tummy, the fear gets intensified.
But after couple of days the suspense weaned off slowly either he forgets or some new thing occupies his imagination.
Where as with adults , it’s all stress…..good marks, waiting for promotion, finalising the deal favourably, increment in earnings…never ending list , also getting new add-ons every other day. The stress will be mounting and showing its tantrums to people around. Good part is with adults there are various ways to keep it controlled, like meditation, spirituality, books, blogs, YouTube videos ,getting expert help. But if not controlled it can have disastrous effects of affecting health & relationship.
